The SC‑70 is a high‑precision GNSS‑powered satellite compass from FURUNO, delivering reliable heading, position, speed and navigation data for small to medium vessels. It uses GPS, Galileo and GLONASS satellite systems to ensure accurate, maintenance‑free heading and motion data, ideal for radar, ECDIS, autopilot, sonar, AIS and other navigation systems.
1. Accurate Heading & Navigation Data: Provides very accurate heading (0.4° RMS) and navigation data (SOG, COG, rate of turn, 3‑axis speed: bow, stern, longitudinal), enabling precise control and safe maneuvering — especially useful for autopilot, radar/ARPA, sonar, ECDIS, AIS and chart plotters.
2. Multi‑GNSS Support (GPS, Galileo & GLONASS): Uses multiple satellite constellations to ensure consistent coverage and redundancy — minimizing risk of signal loss and improving reliability for heading and position data.
3. Maintenance‑Free & Fast Startup: No mechanical parts (like gimbals), so it is maintenance‑free. Also starts up quickly — within about 90 seconds — which is especially beneficial for vessels that power up systems frequently or retrofit existing setups.
4. Full Network & System Integration: Provides data output compatible with standard marine systems (radar, ECDIS, autopilot, sonar, chart plotter, etc.), and connects via standard interfaces (NMEA, IEC, LAN) for easy integration into vessel navigation networks.
5. Enhanced Maneuvering & Safety Data: Provides detailed motion and speed data (3‑axis speed, rate of turn, heading, course over ground) — valuable for berthing, navigation in crowded ports, collision avoidance, and stable operation of sonar or autopilot systems.
