The FA‑170 is a Class A AIS transponder from FURUNO, designed for maritime use — allowing automatic exchange of vessel navigational and identification data with other ships and coastal stations. It helps significantly enhance situational awareness and collision-avoidance, supported by a built-in 4.3" colour display for easy monitoring of AIS targets and messages.
1. Class A AIS Transponder & Global Compliance: FA‑170 complies with international maritime standards (IMO MSC.74(69) Annex 3, IMO MSC.302(87), ITU‑R M.1371‑5, IEC 61993‑2 / IEC 60945), ensuring safe and lawful operation in open sea and inland waterways.
2. Integrated VHF Transceiver + Internal GNSS Receiver: It includes a VHF transmitter, dual TDMA receivers, DSC receiver (channel 70), plus a built-in 12‑channel “all-in-view” GPS/GNSS receiver — providing reliable position, COG, SOG and UTC reference even if external GPS fails.
3. Target Tracking & Collision-Avoidance Data Exchange: FA‑170 can exchange data with other AIS‑equipped vessels and coastal stations, receive AIS-SART signals, and output AIS data to radar, ECDIS or other navigation systems — ideal for collision avoidance and maritime safety.
4. 4.3" Colour LCD Display + User‑Friendly Interface: Compact 4.3" colour display shows AIS-equipped vessels, coastal stations, navigation aids, AIS-SARTs — with easy-to-use plotter display, target list, danger‑target warnings, and safety message exchange functions.
5. Bridge Alert Management (BAM) Ready & Network Integration: FA‑170 supports BAM compliance under IMO MSC.302(87), has multiple I/O ports (VHF, LAN, serial, alarm output), and can integrate with radar, ECDIS, and other bridge systems — making it suitable for modern integrated navigation configurations.
